Flamboyant Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has once again offered to help two other police officers who apprehended him and bundled him into a police chopper during his dramatic arrest in Voi last year.

Richard Cheruiyot who works with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Wundanyi called Sonko’s communications officer asking for help after he heard the county boss had offered to help his retired colleague in a recent child upkeep drama.

Sonko offered to cough out the Sh 300,000 for retired Voi base commander identified as Mureithi who was captured in a dress down by his baby mama demanding for child upkeep.

In his social media post on Wednesday, Sonko shared an audio clip of the troubled police officer who explained that he had a bullet lodged in his vein for years and has been unable to get it removed.

“I usually have high blood pressure but first of all I have a bullet which has not been removed, it is lodged in my veins and I was shot by criminals when I was working in Thika, several attempts to remove it have not been successful,” narrated the officer.

According to Cheruiyot, he and governor Sonko met at Voi Police Station after he was instructed by his bosses to have him handcuffed and taken to the waiting police chopper. He said he tried to handcuff the county boss but he was very harsh on him, something that made him hesitate. He claimed that after Sonko became too harsh he was forced to hand over the handcuffs to other officers to put them on him despite having been given orders to do it.

“My only plea is for Sonko to help me get this bullet removed because it is affecting and I cannot walk even for long distances,” he said.

In his response, Sonko said he is ready to pay for his medical expenses and that of another officer with kidney complications despite all that they did to him saying “do not pay anyone evil for evil.”

“I’m ready to meet the expenses of the third officer who has also developed kidney complications I’m not trying to mock the officers who arrested me or protest against my arrest as I’m not above the law but the manner in which I was forcefully bundled in a police chopper with two handcuffs from Voi airstrip to Wilson airport was not proper,” he said.
